About Playgroup NSW

Playgroup NSW is a not-for-profit organisation helping to connect families and children to people and services in the community to positively impact their quality of life. 

For over 50 years, Playgroup NSW has linked and delivered vital services such as parent support groups and playgroups for those experiencing vulnerability and diversity. 

All Playgroup NSW programs are designed to help families navigate the challenges of parenting and build strong, resilient communities. Today, more than 600 playgroups affiliated with Playgroup NSW hold around 500 playgroup sessions every week.

  • Playgroup+ Membership

    Perfect for parents and carers who want access to Playgroups, discounts, giveaways and educational content.

    • Complimentary access to the Playgroup+ Member Benefits Program with content, offers and events all aimed at helping you better navigate your parenting journey and manage with the rising cost of living

    • Subscription to our monthly eNews that includes exclusive giveaways, competitions, activities, recipes and more.

    • Gain access to Playgroups and other parent and carer support to assist families on their parenting journey.

    • Assistance/support from the Playgroup NSW team to help find the Playgroup that is right for you, or help to start your own

  • Playgroup NSW Voting Membership

    Voting Members have the opportunity to actively vote and participate in the Annual General Meeting and other relevant meetings, and submit questions to the board during this meeting.

    • Voting rights (compulsory) and participation in the voting process as appropriate

    • Preparation for and attendance at periodic meetings online or in person such as the Annual General Meeting (AGM)

    • A requirement to remain current with company communications and respond to correspondence as required

    • Obtain and keep a valid Working With Children Check

    • Fulfil any COVID-19 Vaccination requirements in accordance with company policies and procedures

    • Staying up to date with all company policies and procedures, and adhering to each as appropriate

    • Playgroup+ membership

    • This membership is required if you wish to become a PGNSW Board Director.

    Membership period: 1-year term, renewed annually following the AGM. Must reapply after 3 years.

  • Organisational Membership

    Organisational Membership is for organisations that are operating existing or starting new playgroups and wish to be associated with Playgroup NSW.

    • Playgroup NSW mentoring (help and support to start and run your Playgroup)

    • Exclusive online educational resources and activities for your Playgroup

    • Access to Play Events

    • Local Promotion

    • Website Listing on the Playgroup NSW website to attract new members

    • Monthly communication via email with anything that your organisation needs to know

    Membership period: 1-year term, renewed annually.

    NOTE: Community Playgroups that are volunteer coordinator-run do not fall under this category.

    Playgroup NSW offers parent support groups as well as Playgroups for parents to connect with other parents and for children to socialise with their peers in a safe and welcoming environment.

  • School readiness

    Playgroups offer children the ideal setting to build their confidence, improve their socialisation skills and also to further develop on building basic learning milestones, all through play!

  • Parent peer support

    Playgroup NSW offers so much more than just Playgroups. We also offer peer support groups for parents who want to connect with others in a similar situation, such as parents with children with a disability.

  • Voting Members have the opportunity to actively vote and participate in the Annual General Meeting and other relevant meetings, and submit questions to the board during this meeting. Voting members stay current with the business’ dealings throughout the year, to enable active participation in deciding appropriate company matters.

  • If you wish to actively participate and vote on matters at the Annual General Meeting, then Playgroup NSW Voting Membership will allow you to do so.

  • Playgroup NSW Voting Membership will be $85+gst per annum, which partially subsidises the administrative costs of managing members and holding relevant meetings.

  • All current family memberships will become Playgroup+ Memberships, gaining access to Playgroup+ Member Benefits (launching soon)!

  • Yes, all Playgroup NSW Voting Members will have access to Playgroup+.

  • • Organisational Membership is for organisations who are operating existing or starting new playgroups and wish to be associated with Playgroup NSW. Community Playgroups that are volunteer coordinator-run do not fall under this category.

    • Your playgroup will be listed on the Playgroup NSW website for new family referrals and phone referrals service to your playgroup.

    • The organisation must be a legal entity with their own insurance cover.

    • There is an annual fee of $250.00.

    • Families who attend Playgroups facilitated by Organisational Members, do not require individual Playgroup+ membership.

  • Family participants and staff members of Organisational Members, may gain access to Playgroup+ benefits by signing up as an individual Playgroup+ family member.

  • Playgroup+ is our new benefits program – launching in early 2023 and designed to benefit families, by giving access to Playgroups and other parent and carer support to assist families on their parenting journey. Playgroup+ Membership also provides discounted products and services, and access to valuable family experiences. Playgroup+ membership is what you will need to continue to attend your local community playgroup.

  • Yes!

  • If you are an existing Playgroup NSW member, you will automatically have access to Playgroup+. If you are not an existing member, you can join Playgroup+ here. If you don’t want to become a paying voting member, and aren’t a business or organisation, the FREE Playgroup+ Membership option is the right one for you.
