About Playgroup NSW’s Volunteer Program

Playgroup NSW is a not-for-profit organisation helping to connect families and children to people and services in the community to positively impact their quality of life.  We believe that every family deserves access to high-quality play-based experiences that support their child's development.

Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Playgroup NSW, and we are always looking to welcome new volunteers to help us deliver programs and services to families across NSW.

We also offer organisations the opportunity to offer the time and skills of their teams to help us deliver our mission.

Why Volunteer? There is a range of flexible volunteering opportunities to fit a wide range of skills, schedules and interests, from Playgroup Coordinators, Treasurers and Playgroup Facilitators to administrative and strategic opportunities for organisations.

✔️ We provide our Playgroup volunteers with comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure they feel confident and equipped to carry out their roles.

✔️ All volunteer roles within Community Playgroups hold significant responsibility, helping our volunteers feel valued.

The Volunteer Kit

We understand starting a new volunteering role can be daunting, which is why we provide our volunteers with a comprehensive Playgroup Starter Kit to help them get started. Our Playgroup Starter Kit includes:

  • Comprehensive documentation outlining the  organisation's mission, values, and policies, to support you on your volunteer journey

  • Training and induction sessions to ensure you feel confident and prepared to carry out your role.

  • Ongoing support and supervision from our experience Playgroup NSW team.

  • Opportunities to connect with other volunteers and attend social events.

  • Access to our exclusive Facebook group Playgroup NSW Volunteer Network.

  • Support to develop your day-to-day resource kit to help you get on your way with your first Playgroup.

  • Voting Members have the opportunity to actively vote and participate in the Annual General Meeting and other relevant meetings, and submit questions to the board during this meeting. Voting members stay current with the business’ dealings throughout the year, to enable active participation in deciding appropriate company matters.

  • If you wish to actively participate and vote on matters at the Annual General Meeting, then Playgroup NSW Voting Membership will allow you to do so.

  • Playgroup NSW Voting Membership will be $85+gst per annum, which partially subsidises the administrative costs of managing members and holding relevant meetings.

  • All current family memberships will become Playgroup+ Memberships, gaining access to Playgroup+ Member Benefits (launching soon)!

  • Yes, all Playgroup NSW Voting Members will have access to Playgroup+.

  • • Organisational Membership is for organisations who are operating existing or starting new playgroups and wish to be associated with Playgroup NSW. Community Playgroups that are volunteer coordinator-run do not fall under this category.

    • Your playgroup will be listed on the Playgroup NSW website for new family referrals and phone referrals service to your playgroup.

    • The organisation must be a legal entity with their own insurance cover.

    • There is an annual fee of $250.00.

    • Families who attend Playgroups facilitated by Organisational Members, do not require individual Playgroup+ membership.

  • Family participants and staff members of Organisational Members, may gain access to Playgroup+ benefits by signing up as an individual Playgroup+ family member.

  • Playgroup+ is our new benefits program – launching in early 2023 and designed to benefit families, by giving access to Playgroups and other parent and carer support to assist families on their parenting journey. Playgroup+ Membership also provides discounted products and services, and access to valuable family experiences. Playgroup+ membership is what you will need to continue to attend your local community playgroup.

  • Yes!

  • If you are an existing Playgroup NSW member, you will automatically have access to Playgroup+. If you are not an existing member, you can join Playgroup+ here. If you don’t want to become a paying voting member, and aren’t a business or organisation, the FREE Playgroup+ Membership option is the right one for you.
